Waybills
Monon EJ&E Interchange Waybills 1893-1910
This is a small collection of waybills of cars interchanged between the Monon and EJ&E.
I found this shipment interesting. It is a carload of fluxing (probably limestone) bound for US Steel’s former Illinois Steel Company plant in Gary from Bedford.
Illinois Steel Company owned a limestone quarry in Stinesville presumably to supply their need for limestone in the steel making process, so it is interesting that they appear to be sourcing limestone from other suppliers.
The reverse side shows the trains that handled the car to the EJ&E interchange at Dyer. Extras handled the car to Shops Yard in Lafayette, and then train 74 took the car to Dyer.
